U Card Office to Stop Accepting Checks Jan. 1, 2026

Beginning on January 1, 2026, the U Card Office will stop accepting checks as a form of payment. The goal of this program change is to remove vulnerabilities and create efficiencies within the University’s processes.
The U Card Office will continue to accept credit and debit cards, cash, and Gopher GOLD, all with no transaction fees. Cash is also still accepted at Cash-to-GOLD stations throughout the Twin Cities campus.
