About the U Card

Getting Your U Card

U Cards can be picked up from Student Services, located in Rm 369 of University Square.

First Year Students

First Year Students may pick up their U Card during move-in, or at Raptor Ready Week check-in. Students must show photo ID to receive their U Card.

Transfer Students

Transfer students may pick up their U Card during move-in or at Transfer Student Orientation check-in. If you have a U Card from an UMN system campus, contact the Administrative Associate for Student Services ([email protected]) to add UMR building access to your card. Students must show photo ID to receive their U Card.

PSEO Students

PSEO students may pick up their U Card during move-in or at Raptor Ready Week check-in. Students must show photo ID to receive their U Card. 

  • If you receive a U Card as a PSEO student and then apply and are accepted to the UMN Rochester for a Health Sciences or Health Professions major, you will use the same U Card. You are only eligible for a free U Card every 5 years.
  • You MUST upload a photo for your U Card 1 week prior to Orientation.

Graduate and Continuing Education Students

Graduate students may pick up their U Card from Student Services during business hours. Students must show photo ID to receive their U Card.

Eligibility

Students

Undergraduate students - Full time and part time students who have enrolled in the University of Minnesota UMR are eligible for a U Card.

Non-enrolled and students who have graduated – If you are no longer currently enrolled or if you have graduated, you are no longer eligible for a U Card.

Transfer Students

Transfer students who have enrolled in the University of Minnesota Rochester and have paid their enrollment fee are eligible for a U Card. Transfer students who are transferring from a University of Minnesota system campus (Duluth, Crookston, Morris, Twin Cities) are eligible for a free University of Minnesota Rochester U Card.

Continuing Education Students

Continuing Education Students who are fully enrolled in at least one class are eligible for a U Card.

PSEO & CIS Students

PSEO students who are enrolled in at least one class at the University of Minnesota Rochester are eligible for a U Card.

CIS students are not eligible for a U Card at this time.

Faculty & Staff

Staff and Faculty must be entered into the Human Resources Management System (HRMS)/PeopleSoft (this includes both paid and unpaid appointments) before they can get a U Card.

Eligible appointments for a U Card include: faculty, academic staff, staff, retired faculty, retired academic staff, retired staff and Regents.
